Step 8: Import Image

From the Menu Bar and select File > Import.

This opens the Import Window where you can browse to locate the Image that you wish to place in the flyer.

So here select the Decorative Flower and click Import.

Notice that you see information about the Image, its Name, Height and Width next to your cursor.

Drop the Image on the Page by clicking once.

You can Resize the Image by dragging one of the Corner Nodes inward. Hold down your Shift Key while dragging in order to keep a Proportional Image. Place this Image on the left side of the page.

Step 09: Duplicate Image

Now we need to create a few Duplicates of this Decorative Flower.

Select the Flower then hit your Ctrl + D Keys together to create 1 Duplicate. The Duplicate will appear above the Original.

Create 2 more Duplicates and place them on the left side of the Flyer above the Rectangles.

Create another Duplicate. Resize it smaller than its Original.

Then create 2 more Duplicates and place in the remaining spots on the Flyer.

Next, for some Contrast, let's change the Color of 4 of the Flowers to White. See the difference in the Image here.

Step 10: Free Fonts

The Main Font used in this Mother's Day Flyer 3 is Desyrel by Apostrophic Labs.

The Title Font is called Days by Alexander Kalachev.

You can download both Free Fonts from Fontsquirrel.com.

For a newly downloaded Font to be usable on your machine, you must first install it. Any Font installed while an older version of Corel Draw is open, will not be visible in the Font List.

To correct this, you must first restart the Corel Draw program after Font(s) installation.

Step 11: Insert Text

Sticking with the 10 Basic Flyer Design Principles, let's add the Title to the Flyer next.

Select the Text Tool from the Toolbox.

Click on any White Area on the Canvas and type the word "Happy".

The Property Bar: Text appears.

Select the Down Arrow on the Font List Box. You may have to scroll down to select the Days Font.

To the right of this Font List Box is the Font Size Box. Set the Font Size to 48 pt. Move the Text into place on the flyer. Create 2 Duplicates of this Text, then retype the words "Mother's" and "Day".

Step 12: Format Text

Next set your Text Color alternating between the 3 Colors of the Document Palette.

The last 2 sets of Text use the Desyrel Font. For the "Unconditional" Text, set the Size to 26 pt. For the "Mom" Text, set the Size to 48pt.

Click anywhere in the Text, then select the Horizontal Alignment Icon.

From the drop down menu select Center. Repeat for the other Text.

And there you have it. You've created this simple but beautiful Mother's Day Flyer using Corel Draw X7.

Step 13: Save File

To Save your File, select the Save Icon from the Standard Toolbar.

This opens the Save Drawing Window.

Browse to where you wish to Save your File, give it a name, and then click Save.
