Rectangle will have 8 Green Handles around it (used for Resizing Objects). By default, OpenOffice Objects have a Blue Fill and Gray Outline. We will make changes to this soon.
You'll also notice the immediate change to the
Properties Tab. It now includes options for Text, Paragraph, Area, Line, and Position and Size.

We can resize the
Rectangle using the Resizing Handles around the Rectangle but for precise measurements we can make changes using the Position and Size Section of the Sidebar.

Next we will set the
Fill and Line Colors for these Rectangles. Instead of choosing regular Colors, lets create some Custom Colors.
It seems that there is not yet an option for this in the Sidebar or the Line and Filling Toolbar. Don't worry, this is easily remedied.
Select OpenOffice Draw 4.0 Menu
Rectangle 1 and right click over it to reveal a Menu. Select Area.
This opens the
Area Window which has Tabs for Area, Shadow, Transparency, Colors, Gradients, Hatching and Bitmaps.

Give your Color a Name. In this case 1, then click Add and OK.
The Color will be applied to the Rectangle.
Below you will see each
Color with its corresponding RGB Values. Go ahead and apply each Color where necessary.

Now I've seen some complaints about this new
Sidebar added to the latest version of OpenOffice 4.0 I, however, think that it is quite convenient and helps shave some time off the design process. Some features are missing but hopefully they will add them in later versions.
Draw another Rectangle on the page.
This time set its Width to 7.5" and its Height to 10".
Move to the Center of the Flyer.
Set both the
Fill and Outline Color to White. Use the Sidebar, it's quicker.
